🌺 Hello From Xanthe Walter!
13th May, 2025
Greetings, my lovelies!
In this newsletter:
- The spotlight is on Crocodile Tears, with ‘A Tale of Two Brothers’.
- I’m running a Goodreads Giveaway of Crocodile Tears between now and 3rd June, and ONE HUNDRED lucky US readers will win a copy of the ebook! Due to Goodreads limitations (and nothing to do with me!), this giveaway is only available to people in the USA. I will investigate ways to host other giveaways for non-US people, so watch this space!
- I’ve created a new FREE ebook called The Worlds of Xanthe Walter, where you can read the first two chapters of Crocodile Tears, A Willing Lad, and Ricochet for those who haven’t already.
- Ricochet giveaway winner, Deanna, has made a lovely social media post about her win here.
- I’m delighted to showcase Steven A. Coulter as my featured author, so be sure to check out his book. Steven specialises in MM sci-fi/fantasy, a genre I love.
- There’s a particularly exciting mix of free book fairs and sales promotions this month, including one I set up myself – Kinky May MM Freebies! That’s FREE MM kinky books! Go check it out! I think you’re going to be VERY busy with all these lovely books to read ;-).
💡Spotlight On Crocodile Tears
– A Tale of Two Brothers –
CHARLES LYTTON: A NATIONAL HERO
2095
Sixty years ago, rising sea levels changed the world forever. As humanity struggled to survive the catastrophic flooding, the Olympic Games were suspended for decades. When they finally returned, Britain—a nation decimated by the Rising—failed to secure a single gold medal for many years.
Then Charles Lytton emerged. With his golden hair and megawatt smile, he captured the imagination of a desperate country when he brought home Britain’s first post-Rising gold medal. For a fleeting moment, he embodied the nation’s resurgent hope.
Four weeks later, his body and dreams lay shattered on a country road, the aftermath of a devastating accident that destroyed his life.

ALEX LYTTON: A NATIONAL DISGRACE
At seventeen, Alex Lytton became Britain’s most hated person when he caused the accident that killed his mother and left his brother Charles paralyzed. High on the synthetic drug Crocodile Tears, he destroyed his family and crushed a nation’s fragile hope in one reckless moment.
Now, despised across the country, Alex seems determined to fulfil the public’s worst expectations. Spiralling into self-destruction, he drowns himself in croc, sleeps indiscriminately with anyone willing—man or woman—and responds to media scrutiny with vicious outbursts.
Behind his performance of debauchery lies the question no one is asking: how does one live with the weight of destroying everything you love?

🌊 Dark Water Update
I hope you loved the cover for Crocodile Tears as much as I do! Just wait until you see the covers of the other books in the series – they are ALL this good!
More big Dark Water news – I received the audio of Crocodile Tears from the narrator for proofing and OMG you are in for a treat! It’s FANTASTIC! And sort of weird to hear the words I wrote said out loud by a proper actor! Especially the naughty bits ;-). I did warn him several times about those, but he’s had similar jobs before, and is very cool about it. I still squirm a bit thinking about it though!

🧑🏻🤝🧑🏻 Featured Author
Each newsletter, I feature another MM author’s work, to share the MM love. In this newsletter, it’s Steven A. Coulter! Steven specialises in MM sci-fi/fantasy, so do check out his book!
In the ancient forests of northern California, a mother’s final act to protect her child sets off a chain of events that draws Guardians of the Passageway, Darwin McQuaid and Daruk, into a deadly mystery.
The pair, bound by love and destiny, are alerted by the specters of violence only to stumble upon a horrifying scene—a murdered family and an extraordinary infant survivor. With the aid of Uncle His, the wise indigenous shaman, the Guardians discover startling truths about the victims and the perpetrators, uncovering secrets that challenge their understanding of humanity.
As they delve deeper into the mystery, Darwin and Daruk encounter the only other survivor, Haldir, a young man with elfin features and remarkable abilities. Joining their cause, he seeks refuge in modern-day San Francisco with the orphaned infant. In this new world, the young man must adapt to a society where being different isn’t easy. Once a proud and confident healer, Haldir must conceal his true identity, navigating a delicate balance between assimilating and revealing his differences to evade fear and discrimination.
In a world where the past, present, and future intertwine, can these young warriors protect their newfound friends and prevent further chaos from consuming their worlds? And, as they face new adversaries and unforeseen challenges, can they overcome the corruption and violence that threatens all they hold dear?

🎧 Xanthe’s Audio Recs
A couple of months ago, I featured Casey Morales’s book, Crimson. I’ve just listened to the audiobook of another of his works, An Archer’s Awakening, and it’s gorgeous! This is the first of a fantasy series, and Casey has such an easy, gentle, humorous style. I LOVE the male narrator, Kenn Peterson, who has a soft Scottish accent that is absolutely divine.
If you enjoy fantasy stories, DO check this out!
